The firmware is 99% complete and just requires one more routine to test when I get back home. I will then port the 47 code over to the 46 version. This will be released within 48 hours time.
It will not require a full firmware update, only a few banks. You will not be required to save/inject your drive key but saving a copy is always best. The checksum will be set to zero for the firmware. Since I dont have a 46 drive you people will have to test and report. I will then look at the 59 version firmware. I have only been spending one hour a night due to real life and have been away for the past three days so please be patient. Assembling with a hex editor is not fun but it gets the job done.
Also it was me on IRC yesterday just to let shr00m know Smiley.

Great to hear commodore4eva. Can't wait to check out your work. And only 1 hour a night I am amazed that you got this far with such little effort.

Keep up the great work!!!  Smiley

The 59 firmware can be found in the wiki with the rest  Wink

Excuse my n00b question.  Is there an advantage to the 46 or even 56 firmware?  Why not stick to 47, are their compatability issues?

Well I think firmware is updated for 2 main reasons. Either purely for software reasons - patch bugs, add features, beat hackers  Smiley etc...

... or because of hardware changes which require the firmware to work a little differently

c4e,

I've been reading up on your progress throughout the forums, and want to thank you for your efforts. It's not extremely important for me, since I purchase my games... but I have kids that play, and they have already scratched one of the games. I want the ability to back mine up, and this will help.

Thanks for the giving us all an update, I hope not too many people have bugged you in the background whining and bitching about when it will be released!

I find it strangely therapeutic.

First of all, wtfg C4E  Grin

Now just a thought about 47 and 46, isnt it just like different software versions? Couldnt the code
be applied the same then and the same code? Or 47 and 46 drives means hardware difference?
Im one of those 46ers =P
