----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"GaryOPA" Xtreme v1.2 firmware for all Hitachi's v32 / v36 / v46 / v47 / v59
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Release info & news
-------------------

XTREME v1.2 - NEW VERSION OF ALL FIRMWARES FOR ALL HITACHI'S

This release is greatly improved release over v1.1 releases!

------------------------------------------------------------

#1: Auto-Detect of all Hitachi firmware builds

#2: Auto-Retry if FLASHing or RESTORing fails!

#3: Auto-Verify of firmware FLASH or RESTORE!!

--: The FIRST three updates, helps stops all those BRICKs!

--: The NEXT three updates, everyone has been waiting for!

#5: Once your drive has been updated to v1.2, you can easy
but the drive back into Mode B for updates or later SS
extraction usage, by just powering-up the Hitachi with
your drive TRAY in the fully OPEN position.

#6: No more auto-opening of tray when in Mode B, this will
be helpful when the FW update for SS extract is ready.

#7: Dashboard timeout fix - If when booting a backup game,
and the dashboard displays OPEN TRAY, you just need to
press the EJECT button, the tray will stay CLOSED, but
the dashboard will "auto-trick" into reading the game!

------------------------------------------------------------------

Our next release will include a "merged" version of "F900" for all
drives, which will allow users to extract the SS from originals on
their PC without the need to flash back and forth between two FWs.

This currently is in the works, but please no questions on WHEN.

WHEN, it is available you will KNOW, we need to finish it first!

History log of changes
----------------------
1.1r1: We release a v59 firmware with same bugs as "c4e"....

1.1r2: Same package as "c4e" but with a working v59 flasher!

1.1r3: This package is an improved DCMA compatible release,
originally based on "Commorode4eva" release for v47.

1.1r4: Also everything is in one auto-detecting batch control,
no more BRICKed drives, due to FLASHing the wrong FW to
the wrong version of drive, and updating does not start
unless a BACKUP has been correctly stored and checked!!

1.1r5: Includes the old v32 firmware release for MAY 2005 x360!

1.1r6: Last UPDATE in the this release package is now an auto
check of Flashing and Restoring processes, no more worry
The system checks out the flashed firmware and will auto
redo until it is 100% PASS FLASH. Even less BRICKs NOW!!

v1.2: Three new Hitachi Tweaks from a French "Birdy"!

DMCA
----
For USA sites, this program works only if the user,
has a HITACHI drive, and is running the BATCH file,
no PATCHed firmware is included in this release, or
ever stored afterwards on the operating hard drive.

Features
--------
Here it is, the long awaited World's first Xbox 360 backup firmware
modification to boot game backups on Hitachi GDR-3120-L DVD drives!

But, now finally for all existing firmware builds of Hitachi drives!

Boots all Xtreme Xbox 360 backups
Boots all Xtreme Xbox 1 backups supported by emulator
Boots all Xbox 360 originals
Boots all Xbox 1 originals supported by emulator

Use on Xbox Live at own risk

Technical details
-----------------
Security sectors are read in this order:

Reads Xbox 360 security sector from PSN 04FB1F (Layer 0)
Reads Xbox 1 security sector from PSN 605FF (Layer 0)
Reads Xbox 360 security sector from PSN FD021E (Layer 1)

Flashes sector 9003e000 (Master Checksum)
Flashes sector 90035000 (Security Sector Read)
Flashes sector 9001c000 (Drive Response Table Decrypt)
Flashes sector 90003000 (Custom Code)
Flashes sector 90027000 (Challenge Response) (v46/v47/v59)
Flashes sector 90026000 (Challenge Response) (v32/v36)

Flashing your drive
-------------------
FLASH.BAT automatically makes a backup of your firmware called ORIG.BIN

* Plug SATA cable from DVD drive to PC
* Power cable drive still connected to Xbox 360
* Ensure drive is in mode b either by two wire trick or slax linux boot cd
* Go to Windows
* Run FLASH.BAT from a dos prompt specifing drive letter,eg: "flash.bat h"
* Pauses has been added after each step, just press any key to continue.
* System will check flashed firmware, and redo until 100% completed.
* Once you get the PASS / DONE line, you can shut-down the system.

All done!

Run RESTORE.BAT to revert back to your original firmware eg "restore.bat h"

Media detection on Hitachi
--------------------------
Due to the Hitachi drives detection of Book-type DVD-Rom dual layer media
taking longer than other types of media (you will hear click click noise,
security sector read routine has not be executed at this stage!) this can
cause the Xbox360 dashboard to timeout causing open tray prompt.

This is normal operation for the Hitachi drive and has nothing to do with
the security sector read routine or any of the Xtreme firmware patches.

Use the HDTV switch/HDD trick to soft reset the console (this doesnt reset
the dvd drive) eliminating the timeout issue.

Unreconized disc/dirty disc error is due to incompatible media/burner/SS
for use with Hitachi.

Best results are found using Verbatim media and Pioneer burner.

v1.2 includes a "Dashboard" timeout tweak, with thanks from "Birdy" for
his v46 testing and playing with the coding. - To operation it just tap
the EJECT button if the dashboard reports OPEN TRAY when booting a DVD!

wow, that eject feature works a treat, thankyou for the hard work.

I do have one question, by updating to this f/w i just upgraded  over the orginal c4eva f/w, does this mean if i ever want to go back to my orginal non hacked firmware i have to restore the orig.bin made by this package then run it again with the orig.bin made with the c4eva as the backup made would of been of the c4eva stuff  - meaning it would be no good to just run the orginal backup or this backup alone due to the extra instructions added to this one

That is a good point, Mcmanic.

If you just update over your existing firmware, the backup "orig" would really by the "v1.1 - c4e", so you would need two
restores to return it to original.

But don't worry.

Your message just triggered my brain going, (even tho it is 6:07am, and I been up for 20 hours coding with this dumb
Hitachi $#!t), I got a great idea for update to this release.

It is --- To make a full-proof restore feature, that works even if you have lost all copies of your original firmware, sort of
like the PAR2 recovery system for those big downloads we having been recently doing. (oopps...)

Anyway, I will work on this feature after I get some BREAKFEST and maybe a little catnap.
(Do hackers nap? - or - Just drink more Jolt?)

You will be mention in the "thanks/support/credits" on the next release for this morning sunrise idea!

lol, gets some sleep, i have backup made from your package and backup made with c4eva's and a total firmware backup made with memdump, it would be nice to have a full-proof restore feature for us who continue to upgrade firmware as like you say the backup option at present is only making a backup of a previous flash firmware so only really any good for 1st time install.

Keep up the good work

I am looking at going one step further with the "restore" feature. To make it work, even if you lost all your backups.

1 more thing, didn't think it was worth mentioning cos it all worked fine until i saw someone else had the same thing.

thanks Birdy worked like a charm on my 47dj....... Only problem i saw is when failing to flash sector it continues to flash and when all is said and done program tells you its 100% done....... so please guys read if your sectors have been flashed ok if not keep trying till your flash succeeds....... failure to notice will result in a heavy paper weight had to flash my 3 times till i succeeded

and my reply - only guessing the process:

was that a upgrade over c4evs's?, same thing happened to me at 2 points on the flash and said 100% complete but unlike you i left it like that and yet it still all works fine, think its because the flash has already been done on the previous c4eva upgrade that when checked after flashing it comes back with complete message on this upgrade, if not it would attempt to retry the flash if for example it was a 1st install

Thats what i would hazard a guess its doing

The procedure now to get f900 fw working on 47d is like this for now? :

1. flash xtreme 1.2 on hitachi 47d (thx garyopa)
2. Power off pc and 360
3. Eject 360 tray and unplug 360 power cord
4. hook sata cable from 360 rom to pc motherboard and power 360
5. power on pc and boot to windows
6. flash f900 fw (already pre-encrypted) on hitachi 47D
7. use getss.exe to get ss.bin from your original game disc....
8. Reflash xtreme 1.2

Is this right? Thx in advance Wink

At the moment, that is correct, the only way to get SS on a v47,
we will be releasing a new version soon which has the F900 part of
the FW, so you will not need to reflash the drive, back and forth.

it only doesn't respond to the cue to open when it's in the process of reading the ss info. Once the drive is satisfied then it responds normally.

I do forsee a problem if a person has a Hitachi drive that usually reads the SS right around when the 360 is timing it out.

Work in progress:
- Merge xtrm 1.2 and f900
- Steahl mode to fake a memdunp (return a original firmware)
- Fake TOC (a XBOX 360 DVD as not the same TOC as DVD DL)

BIG thanks to garyopa for his very good work !

completely off topic. Don't thread crap.

Not off topic i think it has to do with the mode b when using xtreme 1.2. Anyway i posted to let know the coders about this "problem".

a fail proof restore feature would be nice, considering that is exactly how i bricked mine. restoring 2 FW dumps seperatly. it falied during the second restore to orig. fw. anyways thanks everyone!!

is it normal to take about 2 minutes per sector to flash and say:
DeviceIOControl() failed 0
failed to stop the disc (sense: 02/04/01)

Normal that is not normal, but I have heard of the problem before.

#1: Remove the DISC from the drive, that really helps!

#2: If all the flashes fail, not even one works, try running the batch in SAFE MODE.

#3: If just one or two flashes fail, keep redoing the batch/flashes until it finishes or you might have a bricked drive.

#4: Shutdown all DVD programs running in the background, like SlySoft ANYDVD, Daemon tools, DVD43, etc.

#5: Wait an extra FIVE seconds after the "Press any key", before going on to the next step.
