that should work, yeah. I have a similar one (just no liteon drive).

only if you want to fry the serial port.
not true, many new uarts work on TTL levels...

does the power cable from the 360's mboard and the serial connection need to be connected at the same time so a pass through device could be developed for simple flashing reading of the liteon without the need for soldering.

This two pics should help. If you don't understand something, stay away from it!! Yes thanks a lot ! This explain what I'm looking for ... If I correctly understand, the las picture (the only one in fact) is the Lite-On PCB ? Right ?

Can someone please answer my newbish question ?
Upon looking at the schematics TM posted I noticed that the the tx and rx points on my max3232 adapter are connected to and through the T2 and R2 Does this matter or is it just a secondary channel ?
Here is my adapters pin out Here is the adapter in more detail. I have the 3.3v version. http://www.compsys1.com/support/docs/a232dbr4.pdf

Just a note from what I've read on the net the readme file specifies an RS232 to LVTTL (Low Voltage TTL) cable/converter. This is one capable of running at 3.3v ,not 5 volts!. I believe using one from ebay based on a MAX232 (5 volt) and not a MAX3232 (3.3 volt - 5 volt) may send 5 volt TTL data signals to your liteon instead of 3.3v and will probably damage it. I have a MAX232 and wont be able to use it, I think I can I put a resistor based voltage divider on the TX of MAX232 to drop it to 3.3 volts but this is also a risk, and it will still need powering with 5v. Sales of MAX3232 IC's are gonna go mad!

God, stupid question, on this converter, the V 3.0 point can be use ? In that example must we connect 3.3V from Lite-On to V+ or V 3.0 point ? Seems like V+ got 5V, is the voltage will be automatically set to 3.3V ? Thanks for the answer. PS : If someone could make the light on 5V or 3.3V converter too ?!

I think that v3.0 refers to the PCB version being 3 and not a connection rated 3.0 volts. I think any adapter specifying LVTTL compatibility will do, or one based on a MAX3232 chip.

Can I use this MAX232 instead of a MAX3232? It does 3.3V if you use all 0.1uf caps which I can do... http://focus.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/max3232e.pdfTexas Instruments is doing free samples with PDIP packages (I like PDIP as compared to SOIC or something with smaller pins) They also do free samples on MAX3232 but not in DIP or PDIP, so if you guys can do SOIP or whatever it is (I forget there are like 3 of them) you can get em free from TI!

yeah lowering the default reading speed from 12x to let's say 5x, would really let GTA4 (or any of your games) benefit from way less popups and loading times.

Yes, I've understand my mistake, this is a RS232 / TTL converter (MAX232) ... seems to got only 5V ... not a LVTTL :/ No in fact, this one is MAX3232, and operates With 3V to 5.5V VCC Supply. But I don't understand how to be sure to have 3.3V and not 5V ...

I just wanted to say a big thank you again to Geremia and all you talented folks for sharing with us. I just successfully dumped my liteon. I do not yet know how to spoof a drive to show up as a liteon. Is it the same as before ? For anyone wondering the dvdkey.exe runs in dos and not windows. Yes but it is sold out.

False . I have one ^^ lol
Davbere, I've understand that we must run in DOS mode (When I've seen A:\> on the screenshot...) But I have another questions please !
Somes points not really clear for me :
1 - We really need to have the tray of the drive half open (or completely open ?), we must open it before connect the Lite-On to the PC, or we must open it after PC boot, before running appl ?
2 - Must we start the PC with the COM1 connected ? Or after the boot (for that before un suppose)
