I have a question:

My mainboard does cause the known HPA problem (2MB Hidden Partition at the end of the drive). Knowing this,
I left my drive unpowered during post and flashed it with an unaltered LBA and let HDDHACKR create the 3 Partitions.

However I was absent-minded and rebootet my machine and sure enough the drive had the HPA set and it
ruined Xbox compatibility in the process. I quickly removed the HPA using MHDD and the drive is working fine with my console so far.
Now I'd like to know, if the 3rd Partition (the largest) spans all the way to the end of the Harddisk and if my Mainboard
could possibly have shrunk it when it created the HPA, and if I should go through the trouble of re-doing the whole process
for the sake of security ..?

I am trying to flash a 250gb hdss.bin file
My hard drive is a WD2500BEVS  (june 08)
I boot from usb and the drive is detected on my sata card (e800).
I select flash
A warning about not the same do I want to put a compatible xbox version. I select yes. Do i want to create partitions. I select yes.

Then it goes this far:

Sectors 16-22 rewritten successfully!
Preparing [                ] 0%
Can't create partitions!iled!

I have tried undo and then retry but its the same error I get stuck on.

1 time when it got to the Preparing part it hit 1%, then threw me out with same error Can't create partitions!iled!

Uptate:
Just tried manuallly create partitions using the command
HDDHACKR C e800 a0
It went to 1% and then returned the error - Preparing partition 3 failed!

Any help appreciated...

Hello, Just wondering this Western Digital Brute Force, It seems to keep coming back as either 0x10 or 0x90 what does this mean? and if so is the drive recoverable?

Hi just to say thanks for this programme worked a treat.  Can confirm that managed to do a 320GB BEVT -00ZAT0 HDD DDHackr v1.22.  Only really thing that puzzled me was after flashing the hdd and creating the partitions and rebooting everything and tried to flash again to confirm compatability the message on screen said that the info in the HDDSS.BIN didn't match the info on the hdd which on screen it did, anyway I ignored this cause I could see that on screen I could see that the info was exactly the same, model nš., serial etc.  The only thing I can think of was that the HDDSS.BIN I used was from a Hitachi hdd instead of a Fujitsu hdd?  Also some where earlier on this thread I think I read something about microsoft using only Fujitsu hdd's?  Well both my 20GB aren't, one's a Hitachi and the other is a Samsung.

Again thanks for HDDHackr

Regards Frank

E68 is usually a defective drive, or a drive that is starting up too slowly so it times out.

I'm having a lot of trouble trying to modify a WD2500BEVT drive , manufacted the 29th of September , 2009 .
When I connect the HD to the pc and start the hddhackr command, the program says NO ATA IDENTIFY POSSIBLE , while when I start up Windows Xp (keeping the WD device connected) , during the system loading screen it locks.
Is the device broken ? Or it's the chipset's fault?

Please help me  :o

HI,

need a bit of help. I ran HDDHACKR and everything went well except the xbox just sees the new 120 gb drive as a 20. I'm not sureif I missed something.

I also tried clearing the cache and formating the drive on the xbox but no change.

Any ideas?

the drive is a WD1200BEVT-22ZCT0
LBA: 234441648
manufacture date is 08/06/2009

Ok I think I've got a strange problem. When I start HDDHACKR in auto-mode it shows me my drives and asks me to select which one I want to flash. But then it continues to scroll down the screen as if a button on the keyboard was being held down. The same thing with manual mode. I get to the point where it asks to confirm the flash, but then it just keeps on scrolling down. Anyone else run into this?

edit nvm I found one. just curious tho, if I have to use a hddss.bin from a 120, which makes sense, why do I need to dump the sectors on the 20gb?
