Bad burns have very little to do with the OS. it's usually down to the burner or the disks.

I was banned today in the U.S. for either one of two reasons. I played a pre-release of Halo - ODST two days before the release date. No one seemed to notice until Halo Waypoint came out and i used that yesterday. The other possible reason is i forgot to verify i had a stealth version of Forza 3 before i burnt and played it. My question is assuming i buy a new console and use my same profile, and also assuming that it was the halo thing with it ban the new console for that as well?

2 ix1.6 consoles banned today. Always check my rips with abgx and they check out fine. Either Forza 3 or ODST. Oh well... Still have one good one. For now.

Yes, I am very careful to verify every burn before I put them into a console. I check them with abgx360 every time. I don't always verify with ImgBurn, but I did just verify both of the suspect burns and they checked out ok. Oh well... Another one (or 2) bites the dust.

Not sure how, but my modded consol got banned during a time period when i did not have it plugged it or connected to the internet. When i turned it off, it was fine and then i disconnected it altogether. I left it for 3 days and even recovered my account on someone elses xbox. I come back and reconnect it but it does not even let me recover my account. It just lets me know that I got banned when I tried to test my connection. It's super weird...

Well if they can now detect the firmware then there are a lot of 360's banned world wide. I will not sign in and will now sell my 360 to someone that won't use live. Looks like a guaranteed ban. I have a few old unstable 360's which I can use for testing. They freeze up after 15 mins. I will mod them and see if they get banned for just logging on & test and confirm if they are detecting firmware.

I did remember Intersect mentioned that there is a new function in NXE where the console checks for the initialization status of the DVD drive. If it is not detected, a counter will be incremented in secdata.bin.

its a loggable error thrown by the system. it probably isn't getting people banned, but in theory, it could be used for that purpose

I think the main reason is the bad windows installation from where the dvd are burned. Lot of spy, virus, miss configuration, bad pc hdd
So when you check, all is good, but after the burn, dvd end with error.
Try to dump all your backup copy, and check it. I'm sure you will find game with bad crc partition, bad ss/pfi/dmi or something like this
I burn on linux, with survey of all syslog error, and i always re-dump my game after burning. And sometimes, the game is not ok after burn
or you could just check the burned disc with abgx

I have received several ban complains from my previous customers as well, as well as reports of friends getting banned today.

I figured out the best solution to the bans thus far. I took my xbox 360 into the street and ran over it with my car. At least this time I had control over my xbox finally being destroyed. This is my 4th xbox in 3 years and I yes I do buy games that I find worth while. I have many friends who are their 5th and 6th xbox. I have downloaded games and I was mad at wasting a dual layer disc on them... imagine if you spent the $60 on that... My solution is buy a ps3 and mw2 or don't do anything at all... might be less players but at least it's free.
