I did an update of the slax cd because in the last time there are more and more people having problems with the 2.0 version.

There is now the most recent 2.6.19.1 kernel used since there are several bugfixes and new sata-controllers supported (see www.kernel.org for details on controllers/bugfixes)
Additionally I removed the framebuffer support and keep the original text console since there are sometimes problems with a black screen while booting when more than one video card is installed; I also increased the size of the initial ramdisk to 16MB sinc there were some problems noticed in the past; thanks to xboxto )

All sata controllers which are supported by Linux should work with this CD but be sure to DISABLE the RAID feature in BIOS and check if your controller can handle SATA-ATAPI devices (some sil3112/3114 dont).

If you connect your hitachi drive via USB you normally dont need the fix_inq_* parameters anymore (the drive should be detected and switched automatically; however you can still use these parameters if you run into problems)

This CD is completely untested! I currently do not have my drive at hand so feel free to test it and post problems and suggestions...

Merry Christmas!

EDIT: If slax1 or slax2.0 works for you you dont need this version since all it does is putting the 3120 in mode_b!

well my experiance whit the slaxcd version 2 is that i try putting a hitachi 47 in mode B
in windows i did detected it but when i try to populate it ," no luck" ,  another thing is that in the console the four green lights wasn't flashing like in slax cd version 1

and another thing in slax cd version 2 is that my windows xp sp2 was freezzing alot so i desided to DL slax cd v.1 and every thing went well, even the flashing lights in the front indicating that its in mode B

hope this release fix this problem
keep up the good work

If people are having problems with sil3112/3114 and its SATA-ATAPI control (Which has gotten improved over firmware updates) there is a way to update the SATA firmware image in Award BIOSs by removing the older one and simply merging the new one in its place. Thats how I over came most problems on my older motherboard.

I was asked several times if people could do a donation if they find the slax cd helpful; well I do the slax stuff as a hobby and dont want to get paid for it.

However there is some hardware needed in order to proceed with further investigations into the 360 hardware I would suggest that if you want to donate something you can do it here (its from TMF's homepage)
