I'm trying to flash my xbox 360, but everytime I boot from the usb stick, all i get is a black screen, with a blinking underscore in the top left corner of the screen. I did everything according to the tutorial, but could it be that my chipset (nForce 550) is not supported? Any help would be welcome.

Don't attach the sata cable to the drive while booting the PC. Make sure the BIOS has no RAID on any Sata. Try to make the USB iPrep again (download the stuff to make it again/fresh install). Be sure to get the SATA card already detected when making the iPrep USB stick!

I'm trying to flash an ms25, i have made the bootable usb stick multiple times with iPrep, with slightly different settings each time. I haven't done a fresh install, but i'll try that next. Also my sata cable isn't connected at startup. I'll also check the raid settings next.
About xtreme bootmaker, i've tried it (v0.3.6) but i have a couple of problems with it, i get an error when i tried to load the fw. Then i can choose to download a new definitions update, but it give's me an error after that. I've tried to apple it manually, but it didn't work. Then i tried XBM 5.3, but importing fw also fails on that, even after i've replaced the 5xdef.xml with a new one from xbins. Also, because i'm running Vista, i can't auto detect the sata i/o, it gives me an error.
I don't think the problem could be my chipset, the usb stick should boot, regardless of what motherboard you boot it on, or am i wrong?

Ok, i've made some progress, but i'm still stuck. I've checked raid settings, and it's disabled.
I don't get the blinking underscore problem any more, now i get nothing at all. I don't know how, but now the usb stick doesn't even show up as bootable in my bios. I've tried it at a friends pc, and it didn't work there, and i've tried it on another pc, where it díd show up in the boot menu, but i could´t edit the bios settings, so i still don't know if it would have worked.

After using iprep, sometimes the usb stick is FAT32, and sometimes just FAT. The total file size also differs, one time it's 554 kb, another it's 364kb. Sometimes the name of the drives changes into 'IPREP', and sometimes it doesn't change. I've tried all sorts of things, but i can't get the stick to even boot anymore.

I've made progress with XBM though. I just copy the devide id and 1/0, from iPrep. I'm using v0.3.6.14220. Even after downloading the update, wich worked after i ran the program 'as administrator', i still get an error message when i load ixtrem12. It tells me to proceed with caution. It takes a few minutes before the thing is finished after i click the 'prepare drive' button, whereas iprep only takes two seconds. I'm gonna try the XBM stick right now, hopefully it will work.

Has this whole thing got anything to do with Vista, of 64bit? Anyone know the problem.
Also, does anyone happen to know if i can flash using an nforce 550 chipset.

thanks!

UPDATE:
I can't believe this! the usb stick, again, did not show up as bootable. It did when i tried it before, it did when i flashed my bios not too long ago, but now it won't boot. Anyone have a clue?

Update2: prepared the drive again, only took a couple of second this time, total file size is different agian, and it will not boot. There is also no autoexec.bat file on the drive.

Ok, i got it to boot. Apparently it lists the usb stick under 'hard drives', whereas i was always looking in 'usb drives', wich is actually more logical. But that aside, i've put the usb stick as 1st boot device. It boots, but i always get the message 'Remove disks or other media. press any key to restart.' But there are no other drives connected. Nothing is connected to the pc but the memorystick, keyboard and screen. I've physically disconnected the (IDE) HDD and (IDE) dvd drive, they're not even powered. But i still get the error every damn time. I've tried iPrep, and after that i tried XBM (but i didn't disconnet everything with XBM since i figured thesame would happen.) Is this message actually from the firmware, or could it be from the bios? What's the problem?

this means that the drive you selected to boot from does not contain a bootable code.

Are you sre You did format the pendrive as a bootable drive?
I would cheq it.

Okay, great. Next problem, when i do the iDump, it gives me the message 'no drive detected' (wich would probably mean i have to buy the VIA card) followed by 'backups\...\...\orig.bin does not exist aborting'.
Is it just my chipset, or do i need the enable 0800 disc first (im upgrading from xtr5.2)

Be sure to disconnect your other drives (SATA/IDE) anyhow still before starting to flash to prevent getting problems.

Only leave the 360 DVD connected on the Sata port.

Enable 0800 disc. You're having the stealth included in Xtreme 5.2

I have the enable0800 disc here, but my only question is, what to do if my motherboard sata can't detect the drive (nForce550). That means the xbox will stay in 0800 mode, can it still play games in that mode, or how do i get it out of 0800?
Also i thought the enable 0800 was only for writing to the firmware, but apparently Firmguard also protectst against reading.

that's actually the purpose of firmguard, to protect from reading and noticing it's modified. the 0800 mode is gone as soon as the drive is reset.

Doesn't have to be. another trick, the 10 second trick for MS28. Read into it in other threads on this forum

Plugged the sata cable in another port, and then it worked. Read it, flashed it. Works perfectly! Thank you for all your help.
So, flashing confirmed working on nForce 550!

Man this is such an old post but it is whats happening here for the past 12 hours. Im using Iprep v10.1 and the latest 1.6 ixtreme FW for a Samsung ms28. The problem I am getting is that the bootable flashdrives that iprep is making, just dont boot. I keep getting the 'Remove disks or other media. press any key to restart' error. All drives have been unplugged, my bios is set to boot from usb, i set my USB emulation to hard disk (from auto, also another selection could be floppy), Ive tried two different flash drives, 4gb and 128mb, and i read around to see if that could be the error. I do not get the blinking line in the corner, just the remove drives. only thing connected to the mobo is the flash drive, not even the x360 drive. I am about at wits end with this Smiley Any other suggestions?

PS...Jungleflasher of course doesnt work properly on this machine and wont find the drive when connected. I just recently reformatted and before the reformat i was able to flash a Hitachi drive with no hitches.
